ASG Palletizing Gripper

End of line palletizing was the station nobody wanted to staff. We configured an Area Surface Gripper (ASG) to handle every box size and pick pattern on the line, so the plant could automate it for good.

The line runs multiple box sizes, weights, and palletizing patterns, so the tool performs single, double, triple, quad, and offset picks from one gripper. Cup size, cup count, and zone configuration adapt to each case without replacing the tool, and vacuum zoning is sized to the real holding force each pattern needs, so light cases are not crushed and heavy ones do not drop.

Project Highlights

The Challenge

Two operators lifted cases onto pallets thousands of times a shift, and turnover at the station was the highest in the plant. Off the shelf gripper quotes only worked for one box size and one pick pattern.

The Solution

An Area Surface Gripper (ASG) configured to the application itself, with cup size, cup count, and vacuum zones matched to every box size and palletizing pattern on the line.

Key Features

Single, double, triple, quad, and offset picks from one tool, with vacuum zoning sized to the holding force each pattern actually needs.

The Result

Both operators moved into cell monitoring and quality roles, and zero pallets have been rejected for bad stacking since the switch.
